Effective life coaching helps you be more successful in achieving whatever goals you have for yourself. It's almost like having an accountability partner and a guide that can offer you feedback, new ideas, and emotional support during your change process can make all the difference between your creating a new reality or continuing to spin your wheels and wish that things were different.

While coaching will certainly help you gain self awareness and understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviors, the ultimate goal of coaching is not gaining insight or processing the past. At Koinonia Training and Consulting, we identify problematic behaviors from the past in order to emphasize the action-oriented parts of change and focus on real-world results.

What’s The Difference Between Therapy and Life Coaching at Koinonia Training and Consulting?

Therapy, since it's considered a form of healthcare, can only be conducted by a therapist who is licensed or registered in your state or country of residence to practice behavioral healthcare. It's a regulated profession. In other words, therapists must have certain qualifications and professional training experiences to practice (generally, a master's degree or doctorate from a qualified program, plus years of experience treating clients under supervision of a licensed professional. Life coaching at KTC involves more than accountability, it’s spiritual and emotional development. Our life coaching services also include inner healing work and strategic planning.

Do I Need A Life Coach?

If you still aren’t sure whether you need a life coach, you may want to check to see if any one of these is showing up in your life:

  1. You feel restless and completed disconnected from your purpose.

  2. You’re unhappy, unfulfilled and uninspired and you haven’t felt joy in a long time.

  3. The same problem or set of problems is repeating itself over and over in your life.

  4. You have a dream or goal that you desperately want to accomplish, but no matter how hard you work for it, it always seems to be out of reach.

  5. You feel like you’ve succumbed to a generational cycle.

  6. You’re buried under a to-do list full of things that you really don’t want to do and without the passion to do so.

  7. You feel lonely, unwanted and unsupported as a result.

  8. You long for a more connected relationship with family and friends who make you feel supported, respected and cherished.

Does Insurance Cover Life Coaching?

Wondering if insurance covers life coaching? It is a common and understandable question. The fact that you can use health insurance to cover behavioral healthcare (which, like coaching, also involves talking to a professional about personal things) can make people wonder if insurance covers coaching, too. What many people are surprised to learn is that health insurance won't even pay for many things that we think of as “therapy” let alone coaching.

Here's why:

Health insurance pays for the “medically necessary treatment” of an illness, injury, or disorder. That's pretty much it. Health insurance doesn't cover therapy for the purpose of personal growth and self-actualization. Health insurance does not cover marriage counseling, premarital counseling, couples therapy, or family therapy solely intended to improve communication and strengthen relationships. It's still incredibly valuable to do this work. Life Coaching or therapy is a worthy investment in your life and it’s less expensive than you think.
